My Wealthy Affiliate Journey: Second Week

I thought I was well on my journey to affiliate marketing. But on this second week of my Wealthy Affiliate journey, I read this great forum in Wealthy Affiliate "Been at It for 6 Months Today" and this forum has helped me heaps. Because of it, I had to reassess what I've been doing so far regarding my website. So I'll be doing research, research and more research the next few weeks for now.

Because of this research thing, I've joined ABestWeb Affiliate Marketing Forum . I've learned a little too from my browsing through the discussions.

Part of me wants to go and write my article for the website, sell something, go out and have some action. But I've realized that this Wealthy Affiliate journey is not as easy as it sounds. Kyle and Carson warned from the start that this is not a get-rich quick scheme. And it's not. It really is not. It takes a lot of work and determination. One forum poster responded to my post in ABestWeb when I said I realize this is not as easy as I initially thought by saying that because the barrier to entry is so low, so many are getting into it which makes it not that easy. I see his/her point.

So anyways, have to go now. It's almost midnight. Off again to my Wealthy Affiliate journey

Wealthy Affiliate Journey: First Week

It's my second week on my Wealthy Affiliate journey and it's been really great. When I first joined the program, I just knew one thing: I wanted to know how to earn money online. I've searched many ways of earning income through the internet. I've bought ebooks through World Internet Dream Team , have joined affiliate networks, subscribed to email subscriptions. And of course, I put up my own website, which of course didn't earn any income as I didn't know what I was doing most of the time. I even tried another website building site and tried to build another site that lasted for less than a month. Of course, I have done a lot of research too. But it was pretty confusing. I was sort of doing things but didn't really know where to go.

Good thing that just when I really wanted to be serious with using the internet as my serious venture into getting rich, I found out about Wealthy Affiliate . My Wealthy Affiliate journey started with lots and lots of reseach. Since I'm into this seriously this time, I didn't want to go into it without any research. I racked up a lot pages reading up on Wealthy Affiliate. I was happy with the reviews, finding them really positive. So I decided to join, signing up to pay subscribing for $30 a month.

What I can say so far is that it's been a really educational Wealthy Affiliate
journey for me. Just on my first week, I learned about article marketing, won a bid for a freelance editing work that could almost cover my month's subscription, wrote my first article for Squidoo which went to no.1 in Google search. (All my three Squidoo articles went to the top 3. And I submitted my first article on Ezine Articles . It also got on top 3 in Google search.

Oh, and before the week ended, I started my own website already. I'm constructing it through Site Rubix which is a free web builder incorporated into Wealthy Affiliate. It's very easy to use and I'm enjoying slowly constructing my site. At the moment, it's research, research and research so I can write my articles for my website. I will tell you about it when my website goes live.

My Wealthy Affiliate adventure continues...

WHY WEALTHY AFFILIATE IS FOR YOU

Why Wealthy Affiliate Is for You? You will have to decide that on your own. Let me tell you my story though and hope that it will help you decide the wisest course you want to take.

My Path to Wealthy Affiliate
I was a fulltime lay missionary for 10 years and didn’t want to own even a set of keys. The less the better for me. After getting out of fulltime lay ministry work, I realized that I am not called to the vow of poverty and it would be in fact sinful for my part if I depend on someone else when I am perfectly capable to earn my own income. At this time, I learned of Robert Kiyosaki and his Rich Dad, Poor Dad book which helped me immensely.

In the process of earning a regular income and trying to think of how to augment it, I was drawn to the idea of going to the internet as a faster means of earning money. I’ve always been fascinated by its worldwide reach, its convenience, and for a writer like me—its use of words and its relative anonymity. I have joined my share of email subscriptions, ebooks (even bought them!), affiliate sites that got me nowhere, etc.

One day, for some reason, I got into this site that introduced me to Wealthy Affiliate. I read up on everything about it. Because I’m from Asia, I had reservations if their program would work so I wrote Wealthy Affiliate about it. Within 24 hours, Carson (one of the owners of Wealthy Affiliate answered my email reassuring me there are others who are using the program. I finally joined and though I’ve only been a member for four days, my $30 membership was more than worth it and will always be worth it. Here’s why Wealthy Affiliate is for me and why it could also be for you:

1. Wealthy Affiliate Is for You Because It Has a Backup Plan. I’m a practical person (and I’m sure Kyle and Carson are too) so they offered WA Jobs. This is where a member can post jobs needed or jobs offered. The owners don’t get a cut from this, by the way. I thought this very important because when I joined Wealthy Affiliate, I didn’t really know if I’ll even understand what they’ll be talking about. But this offering is just really backup.

2. Wealthy Affiliate Is for You Because It Is Upfront. What attracted me to the site when I was browsing through it was its honesty. It leveled with me: if you’re not going to put in your own effort, you’re not going to get rich. I’m tired of all those screaming websites that told me I will retire young and rich but never told me what effort I need to do. And to tell you the truth, yes, the past days has been hard work for me—but really exciting, worth all the effort that I’ve put into it.

3. Wealthy Affiliate Is for You Because It Teaches. And it teaches well…and what a lot it teaches. The amount of knowledge being made available when you first join may seem overwhelming but the lessons are organized well—the Learning Center has Junior, Intermediate and Senior tutorials. Each category has guides and tutorials, videos and downloads. For each tutorial there is an estimated time and it is broken down into manageable pages. There are 18 tutorials for the Junior level, 10 in the Intermediate, and 5 in the Senior level.

But that’s just one, there’s also the 8-Week Action Plan, there’s a Research Center that provides practical tools in internet marketing, and Marketing Materials as well as the Website Center for those who want to build a site.

4. Wealthy Affiliate Is for You Because of the Members. That may sound self-serving because I’m a member but really, that’s the truth. You’ll realize that once you go into the Forums section. If something was not clear from the tutorial, you can post a question or your can browse around and sooner or later, you’ll get your answer. Internet marketing can be a lonely type of work. The Forums section joins you with others who may be struggling, are starting out or are already successful but are generous enough to share what they know. I have learned a lot from just reading the Forums section.

5. Wealthy Affiliate Is for You Because the Owners Are Involved. Kyle and Carson may be multi-millionaires many times over (that’s probably true), but they personally answer emails, they join in the forums, and they’re concerned about the members’ success as much as their own. And they’re not afraid to share and to learn from the others, as well as to encourage.

I told you I’ve only been a few days in Wealthy Affiliate but I’ve had my little success already by reading and applying what I’ve learned—my first article went to the top spot in Google Search—and without paying a cent about it! That may seem nothing if you’re an expert but for someone who didn’t know how to go about achieving that a few days ago, that’s a major milestone. I don’t know if it will earn me money because when I wrote that article, I hadn’t learned more targeted marketing (which I know now). Be that as it may, I am very happy. (Uh, I forgot, I also won a bid for a job that almost covers my first month subscription—and that’s on my first week too).

So if you’re still unsure if Wealthy Affiliate is for you…try it out now. Even just one month subscription won’t be wasted. Check it out and join now!

FREELANCE WRITING

Freelance writing is alive and well online and offline. I've been freelancing since 2005 and there are many opportunities for writers both here in the Philippines and abroad.

I was a freelance writer for Shepherd's Voice Publications (the company that Bo Sanchez started and which publishes Kerygma, Fish, Mustard, Didache, Companion, Gabay and his books). I also freelanced as a scriptwriter for Gabay, the Tagalog radio program for Radyo Veritas. Abroad, I wrote for Academia-Research (www.academia-research.com). It produces essays and other articles, mostly academic and research papers.

Besides other offline freelance opportunities through contacts in the NGO community, I also write for Information Analysts Corporation. This one is a new thing and is renewable on a monthly basis. We write about the holidays of each assigned nation. Another new venture is the one by Partek Philippines (or Data Search). This one involves summarizing articles from all sorts of media for research purposes. Online, I'm also part of Freelance-writers.net. These are new ventures for me and I'm still waiting which ones are good source of additional money. I'm finding the offerings of Freelance-writers.net a bit dull though at least, it gives me variety from my daily job of writing for religious media and writing general articles for kids.

There are a lot of other freelance sites, depending on what genre you want to write for. In case you're also a writer and you have other leads, I would appreciate linking with you and talking shop.

EARNING A SIDE INCOME

There are many ways of earning income on the side. My day job is writing. Besides that, I'm also a freelance writer (I'll take this topic up another time). I also sell Avon and Natasha products. These just need a brochure which you buy and then show to your friends for them to choose from. You can easily join Avon by applying as an FD (I think that means a Franchise Distributor) under an FM (Franchise Manager). You get discount on the items that you get of course. Since my FM also distributes Natasha and other products, it was easy for me to distribute the other brands too.

I also rent out my Cashflow 101 board. But since I only get a small portion, I've decided to hold my own Cashflow 101 game sessions which I will moderate. I will be holding it in my friend's house in ParaƱaque as she also wants to learn about finances.

I also started lending a little money with a little interest.

There was a time I started a tutorial business in our home province. It was doing good considering I was just new. Circumstances forced me to leave our city but I think that would be a good source of income if you have capabilities in that area.

Now I'm perked up to start an internet business. I've been reading up on the different ways of marketing on the net, and I've been praying on what niche to enter into. In time, I shall join the internet business and earn income from it.

IT IS A RICH LIFE

I have come to the point where I've said I'm tired of being poor. Becoming rich has become not just a wish or a dreamy sense of desire but a real thing. At the same time, I know that even now, I am already rich. The Lord has blessed me so much — love of family and friends, work that I love that is also a ministry, good health, intelligence, more or less proper mind (hahaha). Beyond and before all of that, there is God's love for me. So when I say that I want to get rich, it is to claim what is properly mine. The difficulties that I'm experiencing now financially has put me to the end of my tether, so to speak, and made me really want to be rich.

One thing led to another and I was asked to attend a Direct Marketing Seminar by the office, I downloaded audio teachings on the internet by Brett McFall and Tom Hua, and am now reading "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. To me, they are like pathways or guideposts that has led me to this point. I'm starting to realize the mind's capacity to expand even more when properly stimulated.

I know not where this will lead as my mind has so many things running and thinking of different possibilities, different businesses I can enter into. I know for sure that I want to conquer the internet world, to have a successful internet business, and I'm going to do that. I am. And this blog is the start.

Hang on for the adventure!
